California Affidavit Notary Services
Need an Affidavit Notarized in California?
If you need an affidavit notarized in California, I provide professional mobile notary services throughout San Mateo County and Santa Clara County. I travel to your home, office, hospital, assisted living community, skilled nursing facility, or other convenient location, making the notarization process simple and stress-free.
Affidavits are among the most common documents requiring notarization. Whether your affidavit is for court proceedings, estate administration, business matters, immigration, insurance claims, financial institutions, or international document processing, I can help ensure your notarization is completed in accordance with California law.
What Is an Affidavit?
An affidavit is a written statement of facts that a person voluntarily signs under oath or affirmation. The individual signing the affidavit is known as the affiant and is swearing that the statements contained in the document are true.
Many affidavits require a California Jurat, although some documents may instead require an Acknowledgment. As a California Notary Public, I cannot determine which notarial act is appropriate. The document preparer, attorney, receiving agency, or requesting authority must specify whether a Jurat or Acknowledgment is required.

Can I Sign My Affidavit Before the Appointment?
It depends on the type of notarization.

If your document requires a Jurat, California law requires you to personally appear before the notary, sign the affidavit (or acknowledge your signature if already signed where permitted by law), take an oath or affirmation, and swear that the contents of the affidavit are true.
If your document requires an Acknowledgment, different requirements apply.
If you are unsure which notarial act is required, please contact the document preparer or receiving agency before your appointment.
